This workshop is the fifth in the ALEGRO workshop series.

The ALEGRO (Advanced LinEar collider study GROup) is co-organized by B. Cros, will take place in Lisbon (Portugal) from March 19 to 22, 2024. Registrations are open until February 15, 2024.

Francesco Massimo (ITFIP team) is one of the developers of the Smilei open source code for plasma physics in cinetic regimes. The code is being developed as part of a collaboration between plasma physics and high-performance computing experts from several laboratories: LULI, LLR, the CEA's Maison de la Simulation and LPGP. In particular, Francesco is working on the development and use of physical models in Smilei for laser-plasma electron acceleration.

Fête de la Science at the Gas and Plasma Physics Laboratory

Once again this year, the laboratory welcomed primary and secondary school classes as part of the

Fête de la Science 2023.
On Friday, October 6, nearly 120 students visited the laboratory, where laboratory staff presented experiments and curiosities about plasma and its characterization.

On Sunday October 8, the laboratory opened its doors for the whole afternoon, so that anyone and everyone could come and learn about this particular "state" of matter.

[EN]This publication presents an original calculation method for determining the electric field of a laser beam from measurements of fluence maps at several points along the laser propagation axis. The laser pulse continues to ionize the plasma. Some of the electrons resulting from ionization (in white) are trapped in this wave, where they are accelerated by a strong electric field to relativistic energies.
