B 40(9), 2450-2461 (2023) View: https://doi.org/10.1364/JOSAB.489884 [EN]This publication presents an original calculation method for determining the electric field of a laser beam from measurements of fluence maps at several points along the laser propagation axis. These data calculated from experimental measurements are then used in the laser plasma interaction simulation codes which can then be described with great fidelity compared to the experimental conditions. |

Book © 2022 ISBN: 978-3-030-98419-9 DOI:10.1007/978-3-030-98419-9Theoretical Treatment of Electron Emission and Related PhenomenaThis book is intended as an introduction to the physics governing high-field, high-temperature electronic emission. It presents recent approaches to numerical modeling and advanced developments, and is an important resource for Master's and PhD students wishing to delve deeper into field emission, high-voltage device withstand, laser irradiation of surfaces, vacuum breakdown, as well as for researchers and industrialists in the field of gas pedals or solid-state physics, with an interest in these surface phenomena.Authors and Affiliations:LPGP, University Paris-Saclay, Orsay, France |

An intense laser pulse (in red) propagates in a partially ionized plasma, generating a nonlinear plasma wave (the electron density is rendered in blue) that propagates at close to the speed of light in the laser's wake. The laser pulse continues to ionize the plasma. Some of the electrons resulting from ionization (in white) are trapped in this wave, where they are accelerated by a strong electric field to relativistic energies. |
